Byron Leftwich and David Garrard are saying that they have been warned of Daunte Culpepper being brought in for a visit.

"Anytime you have a quarterback of Daunte's caliber, it's smart to look into it, especially with me having one year left on my contract," Leftwich said.

Bill Walsh made a stop by Raiders practice. How cool would that be?

"It was important for me to get (Walsh) over here to practice," Kiffin said. "It's one thing to ask a question. It's another thing to have him watch practice and get some thoughts from him on what he's seeing out there and to spend more time with him obviously with some other questions. I've spent some time preparing for him."

Tom Coughlin is tired of all the pissing and moaning of his players.

"Let's just play the game -- talk is cheap -- let's play the game," Coughlin said as the Giants opened a mandatory three-day minicamp. "I would like it to stay that way."

Let's hear it for the king! Commish Goodell may suggest shorter time limits for the draft selections.

Braylon Edwards is in a giving mood...$1 Million worth of giving in scholorships.

The Oct. 28th game between the Dolphins and Giants sold 40,000 tickets in 90 minutes showing that they are tired of NFL Europe too.

The media is going to have to become more creative when talking about Adrian Peterson's durability. The Dr.'s have said his collarbone is fine.

Jerramy Stevens is grateful for the job the Bucs have given him.

"It's a new start, a fresh start," Stevens said after Wednesday's voluntary workout at One Buc Place. "That's why it would be a mistake for me to dwell on [the past]. That's why my focus is on going forward."

New Bronco MLB, D.J. Williams is getting jiggy with it in mini-camp...

Lord Favre will indeed attend mini-camp afterall.

The Colts class is taking their field trip to the white house today.

"It's something that goes with the territory,'' coach Tony Dungy said. "We're looking forward to getting the treatment champions get, but more than anything we're honored to be representing the National Football League and the city of Indianapolis at the White House.

"I'm looking forward to many of our guys probably seeing the White House for the first time. I've been there a couple of times, but it's going to be a thrill for all of us.''

Could residents of New Orleans still use some socks for their kids? The Ex-Mrs. Strahan could have boxed up and shipped off the baby clothes but instead had a massive yard sale in front of her mansion. Football fans were disappointed to find no giants gear. What kind of fuming Ex doesn't try to twist the knife on the guy she hates?

Ted Ginn Jr. has turned alot of heads with teams looking for this years Devin Hester in the return game. The Jaguars are the latest to take notice.

Al Wilson has been cut loose in Denver. Shame.

"My time is up as a Bronco," the eight-year veteran said. "It's time to move forward and try something else. You have to do what's best for your organization, just like a Fortune 500 company. Sometimes you have to let good employees go."

A sense of humor can go a long way in any field. Ken Whisenhunt cracked me up with a comment after the first practices in AZ.

"I don't know where to stand on the field," Whisenhunt said of the first of two practices Friday. "It's exciting, but it's different."

As practices start for Miami, the time is now for Daunte Culpepper to get a head start on the QB job. He however is not participating in mini-camp since his latest surgery.

Anthony Wright is the newest New York Giant. Wright agreed to a two-year deal.

David Carr has drive again in Charlotte. I really hope this guy gets his chance to show he can play on a different team.

"Honestly in the last five years we haven't had much spark. If we were stuck in the forest it would be hard to light a fire with what we had going on.'' "It's funny, the day I was signed by Carolina, I was throwing balls the next day. I've never done that before,'' Carr said. "I was out there throwing a ball for two or three hours and I couldn't really explain it except I was excited to get a new opportunity and a chance to show what I can do.''

The Texans are looking in their backyard for a backup QB. University of Houston Alum Kevin Kolb will meet with the team before the draft.

Keith Brooking has said before that he isn't a MLB...the Falcons tell him he is.

Sounds like Joey Porter may still be tough after all. The other guys didn't jump Jones until after Porter clocked him...giving him little chance to retaliate. Sounds like Jones buddy that was near by must have been on a hot slot machine. He witnessed it but doesn't sound like he helped. Ding, ding, ding, ding,

This isn't your early 2000's Texans anymore. Not long ago the team was "new." They turned a major corner by letting David Carr walk, he has been the face of the franchise since day one. Dominic Williams (Davis) will be cut June 1. Coach was given the boot last year. Matt Schaub and Ahman Green have already been named starters at their skill positions. Time will tell if all the changes will mean anything...

Rumors fly about the Lions #2 pick being for sale.

Trading Al Wilson is going to be a pain in the neck for the Broncos...okay, sorry, that was bad. Wilson's neck problems are holding things up for a trade to the Giants.

FB Terrell Smith passed on the Packers and signed with the Cards.

Ken Hamlin is going to be joining Roy Williams in the Cowboys defensive backfield.

Something not brought up too often yet but makes sense...what about Culpepper to the Raiders? His career is on the downside, he has a big arm. He has Raiders QB written all over him!

How many QB's can you fit in the state o Florida? The Dolphins already have Culpepper and Cleo Lemon on the roster. Now it looks like the trade for Trent Green is going to go through...and David Carr is on the radar. Sounds like a Tampa story except nobody is threatening to quit.

Speaking of Green, reports are that he wants to go to the Chiefs.

The Falcons have signed Chris Redman to back up Michael Vick.

The Seahawks will be keeping Bobby Engram on the squad.

Bobby Petrino would like to revamp the O-line with bigger bodies but they don't have the cash in Atlanta.

"We want to change the body type of our linemen but we have to do that over time," Falcons president and general manager Rich McKay said. "You can't do that overnight unless you are willing to invest, truly, an inordinate amount of money in free agency and that, as a lot of teams have learned, comes with great risk."

The Packers players are sitting and watching as Ted Thompson does nothing in free agency. Mike McCarthy says they are more worried about building through the draft.

The New York Post has a headline mentioning the New York Giants interest in Cato June. They then proceed to discuss how there has been no talks and little interest from the Giants.

Eagles made an offer to young Cowboys LB Ryan Fowler. Cowboys have a week to match.

Terry Foster at detnews.com thinks that with the moves the Lions are making, Matt Millen is not making the decisions.

The Vikings have a few guys they are watching with the Bears Ian Scott topping the list.

Donte Stallworth's deal with the Pats can go anywhere from $3.6 million to $33 million.

More NFL Jabber 3/9/07

The Chargers are bringing back the powder blue. They are revamping their uniforms. “It's modern, but at the same time, it's classy,” said quarterback Philip Rivers, one of a half-dozen players who has seen and tried on the new uniforms. “... It's kept the tradition of the colors and the bolts. But it's done in a way that gives uniqueness to this team. It shows respect to the Chargers of the past. At the same time it says this is the Chargers of 2007. Hopefully we're holding up the (Lombardi) Trophy wearing these uniforms.”

The Texans added to their offensive line by signing Jordan Black, formally of the Chiefs. "Jordan came real close to signing with Oakland," agent Jeff Nalley said. "When it came down to it, he was within 30 minutes of signing with the Raiders, but then (Texans general manager) Rick Smith called. Jordan took less money to sign with the Texans because he's impressed with the organization and the direction they're going."

I mentioned earlier that I would post more about the Browns and Giants trade when the rest of the media world caught up to NFL Radio. Here is a little something from Pastabelly at ESPN.

Marco Columbo (if that isn't a mobster movie name waiting to happen) resigned with the Cowboys. two-year deal worth $7million.

Jeff Fisher is a little ticked at Pacman Jones over the latest with him not telling the team he was busted a couple times last year.

Apparently the Patriots may be interested in the newly cut, often injured Edge Hartwell.

Joey Harringtons agent spoke with the Panthers...and Jake D sighed relief as he must think if they are talking to him he still has his job.

Browns/ Giants Trade

Cannot find a link yet but NFL Radio on Sirius just reported that the Browns have traded Reuben Droughns to the Giants for WR Tim Carter. I'll have more as soon as we have some linkage. This was a good move for both teams as they were likely to cut the guys they traded away.
