Players on the Ravens feel they are going to be knocking on the door of the Super Bowl in 2007.

HBO is going to joining the Chiefs for camp this year.

Trent Green was up in the rotation to work with the first team at practice.

Cam Cameron is scoring points with the fans and players.

''Cameron really gets into the community stuff a lot more than Saban did,'' linebacker Channing Crowder said at Friday night's Captain's Party at Miami Beach Marina. ``A lot more guys want to come out to these things. He brings out a lot more of the old players, makes it kind of a Dolphin family really.

``With Saban, it was much more about winning on the field. Cam runs a much better overall program and I think Cam is great for Miami.''

Jennifer Floyd Engel has come up with a new deal for T.O.

Drew Brees is taking notice of the strides Devery Henderson has made.

"It was funny because we watched some cut-ups today from last year's minicamp," Brees said. "You watch Devery then and when you watch Devery now and I think the way he carries himself and his confidence level and kind of what he's experienced over the last year I think he's such a better player now than he was last year. He continues to get better and he's still a young player. He can do so many great things for us. He's such a weapon."

With all the barking about Mike Vick, the Joe Horn to Atlanta story has kind of fizzled. For those still listening, Joe is happy to be a Falcon.

The Ravens LB Bart Scott does not seem to be a fan of the new Commish.

"Is he his own government?" Scott asked. "He can succeed the court of law?"

Sean Payton is happy with the no-name guys the Saints got in the draft.

“Both of those players have been encouraging,( Usama Young, a third-round pick from Kent State, and David Jones, a fifth-round pick from Wingate)” Payton said of the cornerbacks. “When you watched Usama early in these practices, you could see that he’s someone who’s confident. He’s been pretty sudden with his breaks on the ball, he’s in good shape, and his stature (6-foot, 194 pounds) is something that’s impressive when you see him.

“In David’s case, he’s someone who’s been fluid. He’s got good foot speed.

“Both of these corners did some good things.”

That Patriots look to have their museum open by the fall of 2008.

“Danieal is a versatile athlete,” said coach Lovie Smith. “He can do a lot of things, and right now as much as anything, in the offseason you want to take a look at players at different positions.

“He could easily be our most skilled defensive back, so we just want to look at him at a couple of different spots and go from there.”

The Colts have lost both of their starting CB's from the Super Bowl run. Nick Harper is a Titan and now Jason David is a Saint.

Browns GM Phil Savage is not scared of what the media calls "Damaged Goods" (AKA Adrian Peterson).

The Ravens could be looking for the guy that comes in at QB when they are done with Steve McNair. "

With Steve McNair projected to be the starter for the next two seasons, the Ravens are looking at developing one of the second-tier quarterbacks that includes Houston's Kevin Kolb, Stanford's Trent Edwards, Michigan State's Drew Stanton and Brigham Young's John Beck."

Daunte Culpepper is asking that the Dolphins let him know their intentions now.

''Since I am a player/agent and there are discussions about my career taking place, I expect to be included in those discussions sooner rather than later,'' he said in a statement e-mailed to The Miami Herald. 'As it pertains to being traded or released, I don't get to make that call so I will await the Dolphins' decision.

``I am sure that they will do what is in the best interest of the team. While those decisions are being made, I am continuing to do everything I can to prepare to play at the level of expectations of the Dolphins [if they keep me], the NFL fans, and most importantly myself. Until this week, it never entered my mind that I wouldn't be the starting quarterback of the Miami Dolphins this coming season.''

Trent Green's agent, Jim Steiner, wants to know where his guys stands as well. Steiner may be trying to bully the Chiefs into a trade with the Dolphins...

"If it goes past draft day, then I think eventually the Chiefs will be in a position where they have to release Trent Green," Steiner said. While that has been speculated in the media for weeks, Steiner's words amount to a threat to Kansas City president Carl Peterson.

Joe Thomas is going to be skipping the Draft Day invite to New York. Instead he will continue a family tradition fishing with his father on Lake Michigan that lands on that weekend.

Smokescreen a rising in Baltimore... Ozzie Newsome hinted that the Ravens could take a QB late in the first round.

The Pats continue to add free agents. This weeks edition has then signing CB Tory James.

"I think Tory was really impressed with how in-depth Coach Belichick went, expressing how he visualized using him and the feel he had for his game, his techniques, and his strengths," said Mark Bartelstein, James's agent.

Brady Quinn has made his stop in Oakland.

Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch goes out on a limb today and says that either Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell will be the first QB taken. Seriously! Is this guy nuts? Is he not aware of University of Dubuque Jr. Jermar Jackson? I'll go out on a limb and say that Joe Thomas will be one of the first O-Linemen taken...see, I could work for the Post-Dispatch.

The Chiefs are in a position they have not been in for 14 years...looking for a Guard on the right side. Will Shields is hanging them up.

Talks are STILL dragging on regarding a trade for Trent Green to the Dolphins. Guys he is getting older everyday...

Cedric Griffen was arrested for not bringing enough candy for the whole class (or something like that) at the "Spin" club in Minneapolis early this morning...

The NFL is set to release it's schedule today...finally!

"On Wednesday at 1 p.m. Eastern, everything about the 2007 NFL schedule will be revealed. The schedule release day is becoming more and more like an unofficial holiday every spring. ESPN and The NFL Network each have two-hour specials. Fans have opportunities to study their schedule and map out their falls, particularly if they plan to travel to a few road games of their favorite teams."

Rick Maese of The Baltimore Sun plays a game of "what if" regarding the new Commish's hard hand on the bad boys. Maese goes back to the Ray Lewis starring on Court T.V. days and ponders what may have been had Lewis got the wrath that Pacman and Henry did from the league.

Mike Williams and Josh McCown played hooky from the voluntary mini-camp. Both players have been rumored to be in trade talks.

The Vikings had 25 players in for pre-draft visits yesterday.

Is it Johnson...is it Russell? Only Kiffen and his staff know. "

It's a great situation, obviously," Kiffin said of owning the rights to the top overall pick. "We're the only ones that control our own destiny. Obviously, we're looking at a number of options with players and also with trades."

Packers LB Nick Barnett gives props to the team for taking care of it's own (him) instead of shopping for free agents.

"I think that's normal," Ted Thompson said of investing mostly in his own. "A lot of teams try to do that. From a timing standpoint, this was just a good time. It was good for the player and good for the club."

The Washington Post has a section on the Ravens but has had the same story for the headlines since March 10th when Willis McGahee made his first public appearance.

Deuce McAllister wants more in 2007. I would say that 1000 yards is decent when having to share the load with a #2 pick. Deuce isn't complaining about that though, he wants more out of himself.

"There were some things I knew I could do well, and sometimes some things that didn't feel as good," McAllister said Tuesday during a break from the team's offseason conditioning program. "The doctors and trainers did a great job. But probably the thing that I wanted, probably more personal than anything, I just want some of those 60- and 70-yard runs again. That's the ultimate goal."

Houston is the new Gothem City with Ahman Green in town.

"They see me out here running, so they know I am Batman, but I am human," said Green, who earned his nickname because of his lifelong infatuation with the comic book hero. "I can get broken down, and the first day of running definitely did that. But that's what we work hard for, and that's what our goal is: to work hard and be contenders in the AFC South."

Marshall Faulk concedes that his body just can't do it anymore and officially retires. Heck of a career, huh?

"A very good friend of mind told me, 'There's not that many 34-year-old running backs that come back to play,''' Faulk recalled Monday. "I started thinking about it. It's a tough position to play."

"The (competitive) instinct, it never goes away," Faulk said. "That fire never dies. But in my training — where I wanted to be, how I wanted to feel — those things weren't coming around as fast as I wanted them to."

"If I felt like there was any doubt that I could finish a season, then I shouldn't go out," Faulk said. "Because I would not only be cheating myself, I'd be cheating other guys on that team that were depending on me to do a job. If I couldn't accomplish the task, why even start it?"

Vegas police asked the D.A. to file three charges on Pacman Jones for the Vegas strip club fiasco (hard to keep track of which fiasco).

Browns G.M. Phil Savage says they will take a pass on all the vet QB's available.

"I think we're content with what we're doing, to stay with the direction we're going," Savage said. "We've got six weeks of off-season conditioning and [organized] programs. Chud's putting the offense in, meeting with the quarterbacks, along with [assistant head coach] Rip Scherer. So I think we'll have a pretty good gauge of the two primary competitors, Charlie and Derek, by the time we get to the draft."

The Saints and the Colts will open the 2007 season in Indy on Thursday night.

"The Colts are the Super Bowl champions and New Orleans obviously was a terrific story on and off the field for the league," commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday at the NFL meetings. "We felt it's a great game to highlight during the 2007 season."

The Cardinals and 49'ers will play the second game of a MFL double header to open the season.

Bengals and Ravens will play in the early game.

The Lions DT Shaun Rogers decided to show up for work.

The Redskins are expected to make a move for Bears LB Lance Briggs.

The Eagles got LB Takeo Spikes and Kelly Holcomb from the Bills for DT Darwin Walker and a draft pick next year.

Green Bay Coach, Mike McCarthy doesn't understand all the negative talk around Aaron Rodgers.

"I don't understand and really care, because I don't know where it's being generated from, but the negativity toward Aaron Rodgers . . . usually your backup quarterback is on scholarship for a couple years and everyone loves him," McCarthy said. "For whatever reason, he's had a couple situations where people are trying to get after him. I've been in the position before with young quarterbacks. I'm very pleased where he's at right now. He's getting better."

Jon Gruden is happy with the Bucs offseason and is throwing out the smokescreen that they may move up and select a QB in the draft.

"Our offseason is just beginning, really,’’ said Gruden, coming off a 4-12 season that saw the Bucs tumble from first to last in the NFC South. ‘’We’ve still got the draft and some unattended business, but we’ve got some players in here that we know can play. It’s exciting to have a Jeff Garcia here. Luke Petitgout is a guy who has played left tackle and Cato June is a good football player. Kevin Carter can play a lot of positions and B.J. Askew is an interesting guy. It was nice to sit in quarterback school last week with a healthy Chris Simms, a Bruce Gradkowski, who has played 13 games in this league, plus a veteran guy we like. We’re excited about our quarterback situation, plus we’ve got Jake Plummer to talk about. We’ll see what happens there.’’

The Rams have a one-year deal with CB Lenny Walls.

Willis McGahee is impressing people already just by being in the US in March.

Kevin Seifert and Judd Zulgad of The Star Tribune report that Viking fans are getting a little pissy with how the organization is moving. Bob Lurtsema is getting it from all angles.

"I have never seen so much discontent from Minnesota Vikings fans," said Lurtsema, who joined the team in 1972 and has been the team's unofficial ambassador for some 30 years."So many people are telling me they have no confidence in what the organization is doing," Lurtsema added. "They're saying, 'I give up. I'm not renewing my season tickets. I don't know if I can support this team anymore."

Bill Belichick would be for a rule change when overtime is the question.

"Football is a game that is played to the final gun,"said Belichick.

"There is a lot of strategy at the end of the game -- you're protecting a lead, conserving time to get the ball back, and that all gets eliminated from the game in overtime. The way it is now, you're playing for field position and the score, and you lose that end-of-game strategy. I think that strategy is part of the intrigue that football brings."

Jake Plummer is making it official. "I wanted to come in and tell you guys on camera and face-to-face that the speculation can stop tonight," Plummer said from the Denver Athletic Club. "You can know by the looking in my face and hearing my words that I am retiring from the NFL. At 32 years old, I'm running away from the game. Not in fear or fright, but health-wise. I'm healthy. I'm happy. I have a lot to look forward to in my life."

Fans booed the idea of the Packers trading for Randy Moss at the yearly Packer Fan Fest. fans are going as far as calling the office of Chairman and CEO Bob Harlen. "I don't want to say it's been overwhelming, but there have been a few fans who (complained)," Harlan said. "And the thing they basically say to me is, "You guys have so much class. Don't lose class now."


The pictures are out of the new Chargers uniforms that were announced yesterday. i thought there was going to be more powder blue. No sign of the new helmet yet although YAHOO! Sports is saying it is going to be metallic white.

T.J. Duckett is going to Michigan to where he played his college ball. The Lions signed him to a one year deal.

The Fins have made an offer to Donte Stallworth. It has not been accepted at this point.

Willis McGahee made his first public appearance yesterday in Baltimore and used it to bash his old teammates. "My situation wasn't that great in Buffalo," said McGahee, who was flanked by General Manager Ozzie Newsome and Coach Brian Billick. "I thank God for getting the 990 [rushing yards last season] to tell you the truth. If you look at it, I missed two games and was facing nine guys in the box a lot. If you get to a better team with receivers, a quarterback, a line helping out, it's going to be hard to stop everybody."

The Eagles have been fairly quiet. They did sign WR/KR Bethel Johnson but that is about it. I would hope they keep looking at WR because that is not quite the Stallworth replacement they are going to need. Coach Andy Reid is still on his leave of absence.

The fan that won the bidding on Mike Ditka's NFC Championship ring from 1975 was presented the jewel. The $12,000 goes to former NFL players in need. "If people like Gene Upshaw (NFLPA executive director) would wake up and the NFL owners and the commissioner would wake up and right a wrong, that's all we're saying. A lot of guys out there right now need help and they don't know how to find the help," Ditka said.

Apparently the Titans did not know of two arrests of Pacman Jones in Georgia last year. How the hell do you not know your player gets arrested twice? Anyway, they can use this to suspend him.

The Cards have given Saftey Terrence Holt a five year deal.

The Bills get three draft picks from the Ravens for Willis McGahee. "We're getting a dynamic back who has the potential to diversify our running game," Ravens coach Brian Billick said.

A year after drafting two respected TE's, the Rams signed Randy McMichael. ''I'm excited,'' McMichael said. ``I made a special bond with Scott when he was in Miami. I talked just to him and he's excited, too. I think this is going to escalate my numbers to another level."

Joey Porter is taking shots already. Says he may have stayed a Steeler if Cower had stayed.

All eyes are on LenDale White now in Tennessee. White said, "They drafted me and wanted me to come in and be the guy and now that Travis is gone it looks like I'll be the man. This is an opportunity to really showcase what I can do and I am really excited about it."

Jamal Lewis sights the Browns commitment to the running game as his reason for signing...like they aired it out a lot in Baltimore. "The Browns have made some good additions to the offensive line and they are committed to making more," Lewis said. "I think they're going to give me the carries I need. I knew it wasn't going to happen in Baltimore. Their profile seems to be they're wanting to be a passing team."

Jamal Lewis to the Hated Browns

Couldn't have been a worse place that Ravens fans would have liked to see Jamal Lewis go to. The former RB for the Ravens (who used to be the Browns) is going to be going to play for the Browns (the new Browns, not the ones that were the Browns when the Browns went to Baltimore).

LEWIS SIGNING DOESN'T RULE OUT
PETERSON PICK

Scout.com reports that the deal
between the Browns and running back Jamal Lewis is a
one-year deal only.

Recently, it was reported that
Lewis did not want to sign a one-year deal.

The practical effect? The
addition of Lewis doesn't mean that the Browns won't draft running back Adrian
Peterson with the No. 3 overall pick. Lewis can be the starter while
Peterson spends his rookie year learning the ropes. Then, in 2008 or 2009,
Peterson can take over the running game.

Also, the fact that Lewis accepted
a one-year contract in Cleveland could mean that the Ravens yanked their offer
after they turned their focus to Willis McGahee.

What a difference a year makes. Last year a free agent coming into New Orleans would be faced with the thought of going to a historically losing team, and the post-Katrina stuff. After the 2007 season it looks more appealing. Ask LB, Brian Simmons. "I wanted to go somewhere that had what I call some stabilizing forces, one being the head coach and one being the quarterback. They certainly have that here," said Simmons, who spent his first nine seasons in Cincinnati before being released in a salary-cap move last week. "I'm excited about the team as a whole. I was excited by my meeting with the coach and impressed by the general manager. Plus, I'm from North Carolina. I've been up north for nine years, and I was excited to be back down south."

The Bills look serious about getting Willis McGahee out of town. Dominic Rhoads has been in for a visit and Chris Brown of the Titans is on the list.

Brown is also making a trip to Green Bay.

The Texans brought in Patrick Ramsey, QB, and Saints LB Danny Clark on Tuesday. Clark says he would be concentrating on being a starter in Houston...maybe he should always do that and he would have the job.

Pats TE, Daniel Graham is heading to the Mile High City.

Sounds as if the Bears are not giving up ground with Lance Briggs. "We have his rights, so he's on our football team," Angelo said Tuesday during a conference call to discuss the trade of leading rusher Thomas Jones to the New York Jets. We feel that we're treating him very good. That's a lot of money he's making on a one year-deal. The strain really comes to us in terms of our cap and what we have to do for a one-year deal."

Jamal Lewis returning to Baltimore is looking less likely. The ravens are thinking McGahee trade, Lewis has meeting with the Browns. "At this point, I'm less optimistic than I was last week," Lewis' agent, Mitch Frankel, said yesterday.

CB Dre Bly is pouting that he would rather play for the Skins than the Broncos.

The Dolphins have been called about trading for Trent Green.

Despite rumors that Donte Stallworth had a deal with the Pats, he is meeting with the Titans today.

Some Falcons are leaving the nest. Patrick Kerney is getting his payday with the Seahawks. Ashley Lelie is heading west as well to the Niners.

All the talk with Chicago fans is the departure of Thomas Jones to New York. What about that Benson kid? He tells the Chicago Tribune, "I think [the trade] is a good thing, good just because I can focus just on playing and not have the doubt and not knowing at times how everything was," said Benson, who said his left knee is fine after the sprain suffered in the Super Bowl. It was hard because for the most part, the way he felt about our situation was competition, so it was hard to find a relaxed place." Hey Benson...the Bears REALLY like Adrian Peterson.

The Texans feel that 30 years-old is nothing for a RB. "We needed a go-to guy that can be a home run hitter," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. "We think he still has the ability to make big plays. We had some opportunities for long runs last season, but we missed them. One of the things that's so impressive about him is how well he takes care of himself. He's in great shape because he takes tremendous care of his body."

LB Brian Simmons, Bengals, has signed a three year deal with the Saints. The Saints also met with LB Chris Draft, TE Eric Johnson, and CB Will James (Peterson-another one of those clever name changes).

Is Jake Plummer retired yet or hoping the Bucs will just forget about him? "The NFL has not received a retirement letter from Jake Plummer," league spokesman Randall Liu said. "If a player plans to retire he must first send a letter notifying the league of his intentions. We don't have a letter."

More than 1000 people showed up for the funeral for Broncos RB Damien Nash. "I don't understand why he's gone," Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said during a eulogy. "We never had a guy play for one year, as Damien did, and influence so many people."

The Cards add Center Al Johnson.

In the mix for the job in the Ravens backfield? Jamal Lewis, Chris Brown and Corey Dillon.

The Dolphins have finally met with Joey Porter, Donte Stallworth is also making a rip south this week.

The Steelers are looking to replace Joey Porter. First up-Tully Banta-Cain of the Pats.

Titans are dropping like flies in Free Agency. They Lost Travis Henry at RB and Chris Brown is on his way out, opening the door for LenDale White. "I think LenDale can be special, and if he does the things he says he's going to do, yeah, I think he can be good," Henry said. "But it is easier said than done. Are they going to go out and get another running back? I don't know. I don't know what they are going to do.''

The Bucs have signed DE Kevin Carter.

Report: Thomas agrees to terms with Patriots

All-Pro LB scheduled for physical with New England today

All-Pro linebacker Adalius Thomas has agreed in principal to a deal with the New England Patriots, according to a report on the Boston Herald's Web site.

With the debate over which QB should go first in the draft I have seen alot of Manning vs. Leaf comparisons to the situation. Phil Taylor at SI.com dives into the debate a little more here.

With all the franchise tags the Free Agent pool is getting shallow. "I think everybody kind of has visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads," Tennessee General Manager Mike Reinfeldt said, "and as you go through, Indy tags a player, Cincy does and all of the sudden a lot of the difference-makers aren't there. That being said, if you do your homework in free agency, you can find players that will help your roster."

The Jamal Lewis cut was a cap-related move and he is still likely to return to the Ravens.

Speaking of cap cuts, the Bengals booted LB Brian Simmons.

The Lions are eyeing Rams WR, Kevin Curtis.

The Fins can see alot of changes on the Defensive line front come tomorrow, possibly leafing them to go young and D in the draft.

Brad Johnson is gone in Minny. Johnson, who spoke in recent days to Childress and owner Zygi Wilf, said: "I just want to thank Zygi and Brad. I think there is a lot of respect now on both sides. Things ended on a good note."

Steve Corkan of the Contra Costa Times thinks that Jeff Garcia may be stalked by the Raiders. "If the Raiders call once free agency beings, Oakland definitely will be one of the places he seriously considers," said Steve Baker, Garcia's agent.

Jim Wyatt at the Tennessean.com discusses why he thinks Vince Young will attract Free Agents (with good reason). Keith Bullock agrees-"The things that we've done, they see what has been going on. Definitely I think this will be looked at as an attractive place in spite of what's happened in the past," linebacker Keith Bulluck said. "I think we shouldn't have a hard time trying to get free agents and high-quality free agents, top free agents.''

TE Kris Mangum of the Panthers is calling it quits after ten years with the team.

With all their cash, the Browns are licking their chops waiting on free agency to begin.

The Texans have given the boot to Eric Moulds, Zack Wiegert and Seth Payne. "We all face difficult decisions at this time of the year," Texans general manager Rick Smith said. "We're doing everything we can to improve our team."

Jamal Lewis Out in Baltimore

The Ravens have given the boot to Jamal Lewis. "We are involved in negotiations with [Lewis], and there has been good
dialogue. Jamal has been a significant contributor to us in the last
seven seasons. It's our hope to have him back with the Ravens," Ravens
GM and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome said in a statement.



So...we are "involved in negotiations." I think we can see who has "hand" in the relationship, huh?
