FINALLY! It's over. Trent Green is now a Dolphin. The Chiefs get a 5th rounder in the 2008 draft that can become a 4th rounder depending on playing time. So we know they have the bigger balls in KC. These two teams have been waiting for the other to crack for months.
It's a good thing Cullpepper doesn't think about these kinds of things...

It's early in the rumor stage but word is that the Saints may have an interest in trading for DJax. KFFL is reporting this using the webpage for The Times-Picayune as it's source but the page has nothing reporting it.
After the departure of Joe Horn this would be a huge pickup for the Saints. The question is what the Seahawks would like to have in return.

Veteran quarterback asked to restructure contract

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Speculation that quarterback Trent Green might not be back in Kansas City next season increased Tuesday, when the Chiefs and Green's agent said the former Pro Bowler would begin exploring trade options.
Agent Jim Steiner said the team is seeking to restructure Green's contract, which will pay him $7.2 million next season. The Chiefs are also entertaining offers for Green, who missed eight games last season with a severe concussion.
"We're going to look and see what his options are," Steiner said. "We're going to do that."
Steiner said several teams have shown interest in Green, who will be 37 by the start of training camp. But Steiner declined to name the teams.
"We'll take care of that in the next few days," Steiner said.

According to league sources, the Bears have agreed to trade RB Thomas Jones and a 2007 second-round pick (No. 63 overall) to the Jets for a 2007 second-round pick -- No. 37 overall -- which was acquired previously in a trade from Washington, ESPN.com's Michael Smith reported.
The Jets still have two picks in the second round -- No. 59 and now No. 63.
The Jets and Jones' representative, Drew Rosenhaus, are believed to be working on a new contract with Jones, whose unhappiness with his Bears contract led to him skipping offseason workouts this past season.
The Bears now have the No. 31st (first round) and 37th overall picks.

Chris Simms "welcomes" some competition for the QB spot coming back from injury in Tampa. Granted, when saying that he may have thought it would be Bruce Gradkowski who is already there. Grad already got benched so it couldn't be that bad.
Jeff Garcia comes off the bench and leads the Eagles to the playoffs. Garcia sees a last chance to get paid and start, decides to to go somewhere else. There is a wounded pup in Tampa...QB guy Coach, his type of offense.
Jake Plummer lost his job in Denver. It was going to happen anyway. They drafted Cutler in the first round and he took over the QB spot midway through 2006. Word comes about of a trade to Tampa. Rather than go to Tampa Plummer says he is going to take his ball and go home.

PLUMMER RETIREMENT A PLOY?
There's talk/speculation/ in
league circles that Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer is using the retirement
card as a ploy to get traded to Houston.
Though there was a report a week
ago out of Denver that Plummer could pack it in, there was no hard evidence that
he might quit until after news broke that Plummer would be traded to the Bucs
for a fourth-round pick.
If Plummer retires, he'd
potentially owe the team the portion of any signing bonus that applies to the
three remaining years of his contract. And the Broncos have a history of
playing hardball in matters of this nature -- just ask Dale Carter, Daryl
Gardener, Eddie Kennison, and Ashley Lelie.

The Bucs apparently are still shopping for a veteran quarterback.
According to the NFL Network’s Adam Schefter, Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer has opted to retire instead of being traded to the Bucs.
Word began circulating of a possible trade to Tampa Bay at last week’s combine, but Broncos coach Mike Shanahan quickly denied the rumors.
But the story picked up steam this morning with ESPN.com reporting it was nearly a done deal. So what happened? Was it something Jon Gruden or Bruce Allen said? Stay tuned.
