NFL Jabber 3/18/07

"Dolfan Denny" un-official mascot for the Dolphins passed away Friday at 72. Denny's death has been overshadowed this weekend by the death of Cowboy fan, "Crazy Ray."

"He was a huge Dolphins fan -- we all know that,'' his wife, Ingrid, said Saturday from the couple's home in Sarasota. ``He did everything he could to always be with his team. He loved football until his last day.''

Cato Junes signing with the Bucs is in all the headlines yet today.

Ted Thompson is shooting down the rumors that Aaron Rodgers is on the trading block for Randy Moss.

Mike Vrabel is going to address the importance of education a the annual NFL Players Association meeting this week. He used Ted Johnson as an example of why it's important, in a not so flattering way for Ted.

"I know Ted Johnson is an issue that is near and dear to everybody's heart," said Vrabel, "and I think you say, 'If it can happen to a guy like Ted Johnson, it can certainly happen to Mike Vrabel or anybody.' I think we need to look at what type of education we're giving these guys before [retirement]."

"Certainly, we all make the choice to play this game and enjoy the way we're compensated, and we love playing football, but we have to look at what we're going to do after football. Ted, I thought, had a plan. And whether it was concussions or the drug addiction, or whatever it was, things made a turn for the worse. So I think we need to look at that."

Offseason training program begins for the Rams tomorrow.

"I attribute our ability to get through training camp relatively healthy due to how we conditioned and trained last year," Rams coach Scott Linehan said. "And I think we want to build on that."

The new Cowboys stadium going up in Arlington is leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of Dallas folk.
